Where do you go for service on your vehicle? Lets
see if we can help you make an educated decision. Here are a few facts & helpful
hints:
- Due to the EPA, all of today's vehicles are equipped with on board computer systems that
are very complex and advanced. If your Service engine soon light comes on it means: The
onboard system is seeing a malfunction that could cause emissions to exceed limits. Due to
the complexity of these systems, we recommend that you return to the dealer to have this
type of problem fixed. In the long run, it will save you money to go there. Most service
centers do not have the training or tools needed to correctly diagnose these types of
malfunctions.
- Most of today's vehicles are equipped with anti-lock brake system. This system monitors wheel speeds at
each of the wheels. If it senses that one wheel is not at the same speed as the others, it
will engage the pump and cycle the brakes until all the wheel speed are the same again.
Again, another complex system that the dealer is qualified to repair.
- General maintenance (i.e. oil changes, fan belts etc.) can be handled by your local
service center. For all other concerns, we find it beneficial to return to the dealer for
service. It may cost a little more per hour, but it will be fixed the first time without
guessing. Just think of the time you'll save yourself.
